Distractions can be a useful tactic to use when in grief. However, when distraction becomes avoidance you deny yourself the most important task of grief: ‘To feel and integrate the loss’. 
Grief is a thread that needs to be embedded into your ‘new norm’ – Meaning making is an integral part of grief.
